As the Christmas season gets closer and closer, you may see more and more wreaths appear on people’s front doors. You probably wonder why people hang a circular form of decoration on their doors, and may even have one yourself, but not know why. Well it at leads back hundreds and hundreds of years to when people first started using wreaths at Christmas time. Most people see it as a representation for growth and everlasting life. Christians use it to symbolize Jesus. A traditional wreath consists of holly branches that have thorns that symbolize the thorns that were worn around Jesus’s head during his crucifixion, and the holly berries represent the blood shed from Jesus. There are many different versions of how to decorate a wreath and why the purpose for them are, but some Christmas traditions we might never know the true reasons behind.
